Langridge Stand Oil

Langridge Stand oil is a non yellowing heat thickened linseed oil. This thick and honey-like oil will give enamel-like qualities when added to oil paint. Too thick to use undiluted, it should be mixed with a solvent. Recommended for the manufacture of oil mediums. Reduces brush marks. Dries to a tough flexible film. Stand Oil is linseed oil that has been polymerized by heating. It is thicker than cold pressed or alkalai refined oils, and has almost no tendency to yellow. 

• More viscous oil than refined linseed oil
• Gives tough enamel finish resistant to cracking
• Mix with solvent or white spirit to help colour flow and reduce brush marks
• Made by heating linseed oil without air at very high temperatures. This partly polymerises the oil, making thicker in consistency yet maintaining a smoothness that allows it to level brush marks and be the ideal component in a glaze medium.
• can be used in Impasto techniques knowing that the paint will not wrinkle and it will dry in a more stable manner than when just applying the colour thicker or with more regular linseed oil added to it.
• Yellows less than refined linseed oil and is also slower drying.
